The corona lockdown in Rio is entering it’s fourteenth week. From the start we have been distributing food packages – and currently masks too- to more than a hundred pupils and their families. The packages contain basic food items such as rice, beans, vegetables, fruit, chicken, fish, eggs and personal hygiene items.

 

Every time it’s touching to witness the children’s happy faces and the visible relief on their mothers faces. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone who contributed with a donation.

 

STAYING HOME REMAINS NECESARRY

The situation in Brazil remains extremely worrying. Although the lockdown has been lifted last Monday, the mortality rate, due to the Corona virus, is still rising fast in Brazil. The streets are crowded though and in public transport services are packed with people. As such, we’re advising parents to continue staying home as much as possible and not to take unnecessary risks. As long as the situation doesn’t improve, we will try to support “our" children and their families.

 

CLASSES CONTINUE AS POSSIBLE

Since the beginning of the crisis, we are organizing ‘remote’ classes. Mostly on paper, as proper WiFi connection at home are rare.

 

ON THE RIGHT TRACK, BUT WE CAN DO BETTER
