Edwin Roodenburg studied development geography and is a tennis teacher. He has years of experience in organizing and giving sports lessons in various favelas in Rio. Edwin in the founder of Estrela da Favela and is responsible for the fundraising.

Edna has over twenty years of experiencing in managing an orphanage and working with traumatized children. She studied social assistance and law. Edna has a lot of experience with Brazilian bureaucracy and acts as a bridge between the Brazilian and European cultures.

Tatiana is a social worker with over ten years of experience. She takes care of the elder students - aged 9 till 14 - teaching them Portugese, math, geography, history amongst other subjects.

Joice has a pedagogical degree and studied child psychology. She has years of experience in social child psychology, nursery and primary school education. Joyce is teaching the age group four till eight - using playful and creative techniques.

Renata teaches math en chemistry. When the children go to high school, a specialized math teacher is necesarry as at their own school a math teacher is often absent. Renata prepares a group of students for higher education entrance exams.

Sonia is a resident of the neighborhood and grandmother of two of our students. Every day she provides delicious and healthy meals for all children and teachers. Part of the project is to serve children fruits and vegetables, they never ate before.

Vinicius, born in Mangueira, provides football training on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Van Oord sponsored football court, situated in front of us. Besides the general football techniques, Vinicius also focusses on discipline, sportsmanship and teamspirit. Vinicius completed the Brazilian sports academy.

Elise is a documentary filmmaker and anthropologist. She is living partly in Rio de Janeiro and partly in Amsterdam. Elise arranges everything about communication, PR and digital / visual material.
